Our Story

South End Stories: Healing through History and Creativity originated at Orca K-8 school in 2018. Through that collaboration, we celebrated the arts and the importance of playful learning, and embraced the incredible community of Orca scholars, staff, families, and neighbors. The program culminated with a community showcase.

The Power of Arts: Orca K-8 Showcase:

We received a $300,000 grant from the King County-wide Best Starts for Kids initiative to improve trauma-informed practices in public schools, and we’re using those funds to encourage our community to share their stories through film, dance, writing, and performance.

Moving forward, we need your participation to build an authentic foundation of youth and community leadership! Only then can we achieve our goal of building a supportive school community that strengthens young scholars’ sense of identity and belonging. If you’d like to get involved, please get in touch with Project Manager Naomi True at naomi.southendstories@gmail.com, (206)325-7626, or Program Director Donte Felder at dmfelder@seattleschools.org. In solidarity!
